The crossing at 229th (67th) is now closed permanently. The Cornelius Pass Road rail crossing is now open.
A public information meeting will be held 2-3 weeks prior to construction start up.
No major traffic impacts at this time.
Why is Cornelius Pass being extended? Cornelius Pass will be extended to provide access to improve traffic circulation in South Hillsboro.
Will business remain open during construction? Construction on TV Highway and Cornelius Pass will be adjacent to businesses, but business access will remain open as much as possible. At each driveway, "Business Access" signage and markers will direct traffic. Construction that impedes access to businesses will be done outside of regular business hours.
Will construction significantly slow traffic on TV Highway? As an active work zone, speed may be reduced to 35 mph during construction and drivers should be aware of the activities around them. The alignment of lanes may change during construction as traffic is shifted around the construction zone and some lanes may be closed during daytime and nighttime hours to accommodate construction. This may lead to slowing on the roadway.
How will pedestrian access and bus stops be affected? Safe, pedestrian access will be maintained through-out the project. Bus stops may be temporarily located away from construction areas for safety reasons. Passengers should check with TriMet at (503) 238-RIDE (7433) for details.
The construction management team is committed to:
How does this project benefit the community? The project will provide an extension of Cornelius Pass across the railroad tracks and will improve bike and pedestrian facilities on TV Highway. It will also improve bus stops near Cornelius Pass and 229th Ave., including the addition of a bus pullout on the south side of TV Highway, just east of the Cornelius Pass intersection. New roadway lighting on the north side of TV Highway will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians. Have an additional question? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
